Steelcase – Workspace Installations Photography at IIM Ahmedabad

Project Overview

In 2024, Steelcase—the global leader in workplace furniture—completed a significant installation at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA). The aim: to reimagine learning and collaboration spaces that complement the institution’s legacy while bringing in global standards of comfort, flexibility, and design innovation.
Filmlabs was commissioned to document this transformation through still photography, capturing not just the products but the spaces they shape and the atmospheres they enable.

Our Role

We partnered with Steelcase’s design and marketing team to plan and execute a detailed photography campaign across the IIMA campus.

What we delivered:

Pre-shoot Planning:

Coordinated with Steelcase and campus administration to schedule access and understand space usage, lighting conditions, and intended image goals.

On-site Photography:

Documented furniture installations in classrooms, breakout zones, lounges, and collaborative areas—highlighting form, ergonomics, and material textures in natural campus light.

Styling & Composition:

Crafted visual narratives around key design principles: flow, flexibility, comfort, and integration with IIMA’s architectural heritage.

Post-production:

High-resolution editing with a focus on clean color, clarity, and true-to-life textures, optimized for both web and print marketing.

Visual Context

The IIMA campus blends iconic brick architecture with evolving spatial needs. Our visual language respected this contrast:

to preserve the lived-in atmosphere of functional academic spaces

to show both scale and craftsmanship

We aimed for a balance of modernity and restraint—letting the furniture speak through the environment it inhabits.
